Fireplace Idea

We suggested a 2" thick slate or fieldstone slab for the mantle, and then covering the brickwork surrounding the existing fireplace. Although the brick was origional, we felt that it subtracted from the interior - it gave the space a dated feel - and the client had asked for a cleaner more modern look. We also felt that painting that area in a lighter tone would give the room a modern feel and allow the fireplace area to stand out as well.
